Day 8, 357 day left to go on a plant based lifestyle.
Today is a new day. The benefit of coaching myself is that I know me…pretty well, so I planned ahead. It is now 4 am and the alarm clock is going off right on schedule. I try to find it to hit the snooze button but it is not there. The annoying sound is getting louder but my phone is no where near..and then I remember I strategically placed it across the room, so I have to get up. I sit there totally annoyed with my coaching self and then I have the talk. The negative self talk. I sound like a drill Sergeant gone mad. Get your a** up and get going, no more whining, no more excuses, Go! Go! Go!
I get up, find my phone, and as I debate maybe I can hit snooze just one time, I see it, my bright pink post it that reads: “Don’t Do It” and I just have to laugh now…and I am up. No coffee, no make up, no breakfast, not yet awake but when I am done with my workout I have loads of self respect.

I know that Negative Self-talk has gotten a bad reputation lately. Self-love is in, we are supposed tell ourselves how amazing we are, beautiful, strong and love ourselves just as we are. That sounds amazing if you desire no change at all. But I think to break down self destructive routines and get results, you must get in your own face and don’t take no for an answer. After you’ve made a few steps in the right direction, by all means now you can turn on the “self-love”.
Perhaps the bigger issue is that we confuse self-indulgence with self-love. If you truly love yourself you choose to treat yourself better, you challenge yourself to become a better version of yourself, and with that comes sacrifice.
